    Description

    Large, long country splint gathering basket  Oval shaped and well made, it was woven by someone who knew the craft. Carved wooden handle and hand woven splints with a soft old patina. Measures 15 inches across the top, 9 inches tall without the handle, and 28 inches long. Nice by the fire, for magazines or vegetable gardening. In very good preowned condition. No serious damage, a few splits in the cross weave top splints along the edge from dry attic storage.  There are also a few stains on the very bottom. Circa 1870-90.
